Q: Arwa, why did you choose “An Unforgettable Mark” as the title of your first solo exhibition?
Arwa Nawawi:
Because some losses are unforgettable—not just because they’re painful, but because they leave a mark etched into the heart. This exhibition is a tribute to those who have left our lives physically but remain present in our memories. They whisper through our thoughts, live in our emotions, and appear in the faces of passersby. Their impact is a silent, eternal presence.

Q: This is your debut solo show, but you’ve been part of the art scene for years. Tell us more about your journey.
Arwa Nawawi:
I was born in Jeddah in 1982 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from King Abdulaziz University in 2005. I later earned a Diploma in Business Administration from the UK in 2013. I’ve been actively engaged in the Saudi art scene since graduation and have participated in numerous local and international exhibitions. I’m honored to be recognized as part of the fifth generation of Saudi visual artists. This exhibition, however, is especially personal—it’s a deeply emotional milestone for me.
⸻
Q: Family often plays a big role in shaping an artist. How has your family influenced your path?
Arwa Nawawi:
My father was my first and greatest supporter. He believed in me and my talent from the very beginning. His encouragement was like a light that guided me through every step. Along with the support of my mother, my family, and dear friends, I found the strength to keep going and growing as an artist.
⸻
Q: How is this exhibition different from your previous artistic experiences?
Arwa Nawawi:
This exhibition comes from a very personal place. It’s more than just a display of paintings—it’s an emotional journey. Every piece tells a story, whispers a memory, and carries a part of my soul. The colors, textures, and themes were all chosen to reflect the lasting impact of loss and the quiet strength that remains.
⸻
Q: Any final words you’d like to share during this special moment?
Arwa Nawawi:
I dedicate “An Unforgettable Mark” to everyone who has lost someone dear. To all those who carry memories that never fade—I see you, and I feel you. I’m grateful for the love and support I’ve received from my family, friends, and art institutions. This is not the end—it’s the beginning of a deeper, more meaningful artistic chapter.
