NATIONAL DAY AND MALAYSIA DAY 2026 CELEBRATION IN JEDDAH

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah organised the National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 celebration on 2 October 2026 at its premises, under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”.

The event was hosted by YM Tengku Datuk Mohd Dzaraif Raja Abdul Kadir, Consul General of Malaysia in Jeddah, and his wife. Nearly 700 guests attended, comprising Malaysians residing in Jeddah and the surrounding Hijaz region, including members of Kelab Hijazi Rakyat Malaysia, healthcare professionals, students and their families.
Representatives of Malaysian government agencies in Jeddah and strategic partners were also present. This year’s turnout was the highest ever recorded for a National Day and Malaysia Day celebration organised by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah.

The celebration began with the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku, and the raising of the Jalur Gemilang, followed by the recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge.

In his remarks, YM Tengku Datuk Mohd Dzaraif linked the theme of the celebration to the Prime Minister’s National Day address on 30 August 2026, which emphasised that the benefits of the country’s economic growth must be returned to the people. He also quoted the Prime Minister’s Malaysia Day message, “The sea may separate us, but not our national aspirations and hopes”, as a reminder that Malaysians abroad remain part of the wider Malaysian family.

He also shared updates on the country’s economy, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 6.0 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, the strongest outside the pandemic period since 2014, and Malaysia’s 15th-place ranking in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2026. He also touched on the courtesy call by His Excellency Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan, Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), on the Prime Minister in Putrajaya on 28 September 2026.

On security matters, the Consul General advised Malaysians in Saudi Arabia to remain calm and refer to updates issued through the official channels of the Consulate General and the Saudi authorities. They were also advised to refrain from recording or sharing unverified videos and information on social media, and to register their presence with the Consulate General.

A highlight of the celebration was the screening of a special National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 message from the Prime Minister, recorded specifically for Malaysians residing in the Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia. A special video commemorating Malaysia’s independence was also screened.

The celebration featured cultural performances by Kumpulan Gema Sari Malaysia and Kumpulan Pesona Borneo, as well as performances of patriotic songs by members of the Malaysian community in Jeddah. Activities included a Merdeka video competition, a colouring competition and a Kahoot quiz on Malaysian nationhood, alongside a lucky draw and the presentation of prizes to competition winners.

Guests were served a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes at stalls operated by the local community. YM Tengku Datuk Mohd Dzaraif also took time to visit the stalls.

The event concluded with the singing of Jalur Gemilang by all attendees and a group photograph. The celebration strengthened ties between the Consulate General and the Malaysian community in Jeddah and the surrounding Hijaz region, while instilling patriotism and love for the nation.

The Consul General expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister’s Office, Malaysian government agencies in Jeddah, namely the Immigration Department of Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia, MATRADE and Lembaga Tabung Haji, as well as strategic partners, for their support and cooperation in making the celebration a success.
